There's already a lot to think about when it comes to planning your wedding, but arriving at your Big Day is a pretty Big Moment, so you'll want to have some transport that matches the occasion. Whether you're looking for something classy, classic, bold, cute or quirky, here are our picks of the best wedding cars.

Rolls-Royce Ghost

A big Rolls-Royce – preferably in white to match the bride’s gown – is about as traditional a wedding car as you can possibly go for. And if you’re sticking to the conventions is probably top of the list for getting to the church on time. The latest Ghost is just the job for that, its whispering V12 engine blessed with enough grunt to make up for any lost time en route to the church, while the rear-hinged back doors are perfect for an elegant exit upon arrival.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class

A benchmark limo, and for good reason, the Mercedes S-Class is an oasis of calm and tranquillity to help steady the nerves on the way to the ceremony and just the job for being whisked away from the reception at the end of the day. Alternatives include the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8, though these do risk looking more like the security detail than the wedding car. Unlike most modern Mercedes the S-Class still has a star on the bonnet handy for attaching the decorative ribbons, too. For that reason alone it would be our pick.

Lamborghini Aventador

If you’re bringing a bit of bling to your big day a supercar certainly makes a statement, and they don’t come any louder than a Lamborghini. The Aventador’s signature scissor doors make that entrance all the more dramatic, though getting in and out of it elegantly in a traditional wedding dress may still be a struggle. Something to consider for the all-important rehearsals.

Range Rover SVAutobiography

A sensible precaution if your reception is in a marquee in grassy field, a luxury SUV makes for a great wedding car, not least for being easier to get in and out of than more traditional low-slung limos. There are plenty of options here, including the Bentley Bentayga a and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Our pick would be a Range Rover, though. The luxurious SVAutobiography trim is as flash as any limo, the long-wheelbase means space for the biggest frock and there’s just something effortlessly classy about it.

Porsche Taycan

Fancy a sporty wedding car but one you can both ride in the back of having made the most of the reception drinks? While on the cosy side compared with more conventional limos, the Taycan is a proper four-seater and stands out as something a bit cool and different to arrive in. You might not thank the chauffeur if they choose to deploy the full launch control away from the venue. But, more practically, the low-slung suspension can at least jack itself up a tad to make getting in and out of it a little more graceful.

Aston Martin DB6 Volante

We’ll not ask whether you’re in the Harry or William camp after the latest royal sagas but both brothers chose classic British sports cars for their big days. William and Kate borrowed Prince Charles’s classic Aston Martin DB6 Volante while Harry and Meghan opted for an electrified Jaguar E-type. Maybe split the difference and choose the DB6 with the Aston Martin Works’ Heritage EV conversion for an arch combination of classic cool and eco cred. It’s also fully reversible if you choose to go back to a ‘proper’ internal combustion engine.

Bentley Flying Spur

Rolls a bit too clichéd? S-Class not glam enough? The Bentley Flying Spur arguably strikes the perfect middle-ground, being both luxurious and traditional but also modern and stylish. An imposing and impressive limo, the Flying Spur could operate just as comfortably outside a traditional country church wedding as a more modern venue, the spacious and luxurious rear cabin just the place to arrive in style.

Tesla

Fancy channelling some of Elon Musk’s ‘disruptor’ spirit and making a bit of a statement with your wedding car? A Tesla will certainly hammer home the point you’re not hung up on tradition, the Model S an electrified rival to a regular limo like an S-Class while the Model X’s dramatic gullwing rear doors will create an entrance with a difference for any bride.

VW Camper

There’s always pressure to do something a bit different and make your wedding stand out, so why not ditch the limo and go for something quirky instead? A VW camper is perfect, especially if you’re following the trend for a festival style wedding with a big party in a field. Just have a back-up for getting to the church or reception office, given older ones like this aren’t always the most reliable of vehicles. And we’d probably swtich to a more modern camper for the honeymoon roadtrip. Still, for the big day it’ll be a memorable feature to make everyone smile.
