The government announced its new Electric Car Grant (ECG) on 15 July 2025, but we had to wait for manufacturers to apply to find out which cars would be eligible for the scheme.
In order to qualify cars must be priced at or under £37,000 in addition to meeting other warranty, battery range and sustainability criteria. You can find out more about the criteria here. There are two levels for the grant. Level 1 cars score more favourably against the government's sustainability criteria and gain the maximum £3,750 grant. Level 2 cars which are deemed less sustainable will receive the £1,500 grant. The approval process is ongoing, and we will continue to update the list below as more cars are accepted by the scheme. While many EVs are not eligible, several brands are offering their own incentives including discounts, finance deals, free home chargers and more. You can find more information here.
