No doors? No roof? No problem.
The world has fallen in love with the Ford Bronco. Its combination of good looks, off-road prowess and sheer cool factor has given it a cult-like following across the world but, unfortunately, not everybody in the world will get the chance to drive one. Ford don’t currently ship the Bronco to Europe, but lucky for you, import specialist Clive Sutton has started shipping two variants of the Ford Bronco from the United States into the UK – the standard Bronco Base and the Bronco Outer Banks variant, so we just had to review one. Watch our video where Auto Trader’s very own Rory Reid takes the Ford Bronco for a spin to find out what the hype is all about.

Ford Bronco specs

It’s safe to say that the Bronco is built to conquer the wilderness.
Available with a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines, the standard Bronco model is powered by a 2.3-litre four-cylinder unit with 270bhp, going 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. The flagship variant boasts a 2.7-litre six-cylinder powertrain with 310bhp, with a 0-60 time of 6.6 seconds. Whilst both are powerful off-roaders, the latter offers the power of a serious performance vehicle. Labelled the latest and greatest "rugged utility vehicle", the Ford Bronco doesn’t just look the part – it does exactly what you need it to do, combining the best parts of an on-road passenger vehicle with an off-road experience just like the 1965 Bronco, except revised and revitalised with a 2021 twist. Inspired by the rival Jeep Wrangler, Ford designed the Bronco as a direct competitor for off-roading, whilst ensuring it handled better on the road, too, making this American beauty the leader of its class.

Ford Bronco design and interior

Ford’s engineers designed the new Bronco after 3D-scanning the first-generation model. In addition to a well-deserved facelift, the Bronco has been essentially rescaled to meet modern safety and performance requirements, inspiring a new generation of utility vehicles to take on the likes of Jeep and Land Rover.
Combining just the right blend of old and new, the Ford Bronco cannot be mistaken for either a Jeep Wrangler or even a Land Rover Defender – its bulky stance and short overhangs make it clear it’s an off-roader, available in either two or four-door body styles. The best part is, both options come with removable doors and a range of modular body panels, including a removable hardtop, a stowable fabric soft-top and snap-in rear quarter light windows, making the Bronco one of the coolest SUVs out there.

Is the Ford Bronco electric?

Although they haven’t released an all-electric Bronco yet, Ford has hinted that a full-size, all-electric SUV may just be on its way, using the Bronco as a starting point. In the meantime, you can check out the available Ford electric cars here.
