Given sports cars are designed to trigger an emotional response, everyone will have their own idea about what makes each one special. Is it about the style? What about the power? Whatever your priorities, it’s got to be fun to drive, right?
By all of the measures above the Chevrolet Corvette has seemingly got better with age. First released back in 1953, the Corvette has evolved across eight generations over the last 70 years, the latest model taking this stone-cold classic to new heights with one of the most radical changes to its design in that whole time. To find out more Rory takes the new Corvette C8 for a spin in our latest video and discover why Chevrolet has, in effect, totally reinvented it for this latest generation.

How much is a 2023 Corvette C8?

If you’re looking to buy a new Corvette Stingray C8 you’ll need to find a little over £80,000, which is comparable to a brand-new Porsche 911 or, perhaps, a Lotus Emira.

Is the Corvette C8 faster than a Ferrari?

The Corvette C8 uses a 6.2-litre V8 engine generating 482 horsepower, which gives a 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds and an incredible top speed of around 184mph flat out.
But how does that compare to Ferrari’s recent offerings? The Ferrari F8 Tributo boasts the same 0-62 time as the Corvette C8 with 2.9 seconds. However, The F8 has 772 horsepower and can hit 211mph, leaving the C8 lagging behind. Meanwhile, the hybrid-assisted Ferrari 296 GTB matches the Ferrari F8 in its 0-62 sprint time but its 654 horsepower again beats the C8, contributing to its impressive 205mph top speed. As you could expect, the extra performance of both Ferraris comes at quite a price, the F8 Tributo costing just over £200,000 while the 296 GTB is closer to £250,000; In this context, the fact the Corvette costs around a quarter of each goes to show how much bang you’re getting for your buck.
