  • Dacia’s pint-size EV will now start from £11,990
  • The Spring is the cheapest new electric car you can buy
  • It has an official range of up to 140 miles
  • Available now
  • Alternatives include the Leapmotor T03 and the Honda Super-N

Dacia is reducing the starting price of its all-electric Spring to £11,990. The Spring was already one of the cheapest cars on sale, but now Dacia has knocked thousands of pounds off the price to make it even more affordable. The Spring is designed for use in busy urban environments and while it may not be as refined as other budget-friendly EVs like the Citroën ë-C3, it still plays its part in making electric cars more accessible. Read our full review of the Dacia Spring here!

To add more flexibility Dacia also offer a Cargo version which removes the rear seats and transforms the Spring into a miniature van. Read our full review of the Dacia Spring Cargo here!

How much is the Dacia Spring?

Previously the Spring started at just under £16,000, but the big headline is it will now be available from £11,990 making it not only the cheapest new electric car you can buy, but the cheapest new car full stop – well, assuming you aren’t counting quadricycles like the Citroën Ami or Fiat Topolino. For an extra £1,000 you can have a range-topping model with 100 horsepower and more tech.

How much tech do you get for your money?

All Springs come with the basics covered so you’ll get air conditioning, cruise control, a digital display for the driver and rear parking sensors. Range-topping models gain an 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera and vehicle-to-load which allows you to power other devices using the car’s battery.

How much electric range does the Dacia Spring have?

The Dacia Spring has an official WLTP range of up to 140 miles, though our recent experience of the Cargo version suggests you are more likely to get around 120 miles in the real world. Dacia updated the Spring’s battery and motors at the end of last year. Now there are two models available: the Expression Electric 70 and the Extreme Electric 100. The former has 70 horsepower while the latter packs 100 horsepower and will accept DC charging so you can top up from 20 to 80 per cent in just under half an hour using a public charger.

What other cars are due from Dacia this year?

2026 continues to be a busy year for Dacia as it updates its whole line-up. The Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Jogger have all had a refresh with a new look and tweaked engine options. Meanwhile the all-new Striker crossover is set to arrive soon which promises to take the family-friendly values of the Bigster and wrap them up in a sleeker package.

What does the Dacia Spring compete with?

Tiny electric cars are having a moment. The Spring’s closest rival is the Leapmotor T03, but if you have a slightly larger budget there will soon be an increasing number of alternatives available. Honda has just launched its ‘Kei’ car inspired Super-N, then there’s the adorable Renault Twingo, while Smart is reinventing the ForTwo with the #2, and a Volkswagen will soon be introducing a production version of the VW ID. Every1 concept.
