Logic would suggest this award should be one of the most difficult to win. Technology is always moving forwards, meaning the newest cars should, in theory, be the most advanced, and therefore the best. Well, of all the models released in the last 12 months, it was the Honda CR-V that came out as the favourite.
Like all our awards, this category was decided by feedback collated from a survey of more than 60,000 car owners, all of whom rated their car in 16 key areas. That means an Auto Trader New Car Award is a real stamp of approval from people that live with the car day-in, day-out, and it makes each winner a true consumer champion. Of all the new cars eligible for this award, the CR-V was rated top in no less than six areas, those being comfort, quality, durability, the features and accessories, the cost of servicing and repairs and how safe the car feels. Commenting on the CR-V’s win in the category, Auto Trader’s road test editor, Ivan Aistrop, said: “The CR-V has always been a popular car in the UK, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change with the latest version. Buyers have given it a big thumbs-up, and it’s easy to see why. This is a car that’s impressively practical, comfortable and quiet to drive, and it’s also likely to be faultlessly reliable. No wonder it’s been a hit with buyers so far.”
