Best Value Electric Car 2024 – BYD Atto 3

You often tell us the high purchase cost of electric cars is one of the biggest barriers to making the switch from internal combustion power. So, it’s good news to see so many strong cars – and new entrants to the market – in the Best Value Electric Car award. The Tesla Model 3 in the runner’s up spot has always delivered plenty of bang for your buck, and though it’s not perfect the EX30 brings Volvo’s premium style to a newly affordable price point and praise from its owners.
But our winner is the BYD Atto 3, one of a growing number of Chinese electric brands in the market and popular with owners for its distinctive looks, generous equipment levels and spaciousness. It’s also got some useful and very practical features, one owner using the ‘vehicle to load’ function to charge his wife’s mobility scooter while out and about, another with a history of back problems praising the comfort. Perhaps its standout feature is what one owner describes as its ‘funky interior’, literally given the twangy elastic strings on the door trims can actually be plucked to knock out ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ if you channel your inner bass player… Well done on all counts, BYD!
