The original T-Roc was born out of the popular trend for adapting a well-known hatchback into a small SUV. Thanks to this formula the T-Roc became one the VW’s most popular models, but it was starting to show its age. Enter the all-new T-Roc. This time Volkswagen is following a more is more philosophy by stretching the T-Roc out to create more space inside, packing it with more tech and making it more appealing by finally adding hybrid options.
• The T-Roc is a compact crossover based on the Golf • This new version is slightly longer than before and gains the latest tech along with a new look inside and out • For the first time the T-Roc will be offered with hybrid options • Likely to arrive early next year • Expected to start at around £30,000

Design and models available
The new T-Roc gets an updated front grille to mirror the larger SUVs in the VW range. There’s a new LED headlight design and on higher trims there’ll be the option of adding LED matrix headlights which are connected by a light strip featuring an illuminated VW badge. It’s a similar story at the back where the LED lights are now joined by a light bar. Volkswagen says it has not confirmed the trim line-up for the UK, although it promises to make the combination of grades, optional extras and packages easier to navigate. In Germany the T-Roc will be available in six colours with new paint options including Canary yellow solid, Flame red metallic and Celestial blue metallic but we will have to wait to find out if they will be offered here. There’s also no mention of the quirky T-Roc Convertible – could this be the end of the road for the open top version?

Interior and tech
Inside the interior has had a revamp so it closely resembles the larger Tiguan and Tayron models with the massive 12.9-inch central screen and a further digital driver display. Thankfully, you’ll get physical buttons on the steering wheel, and we hope the latest VW software will be easy enough to navigate. The new T-Roc is 12cm longer than previous generation and this increased length should help the T-Roc feel roomier than before. There’s more boot space too, so you can squeeze an extra rucksack or small suitcase into the back. A head-up display will be available as an option for the first time, and the T-Roc will also have more advanced safety systems. These include features like automatic lane changes, automatic parking which can perform tricky manoeuvres by itself and an exit warning system to prevent you opening doors into cyclists or other traffic.

Engines
With this new model the T-Roc will be offered with a range of hybrid engine options for the first time. From launch there will be two 1.5 eTSI mild hybrids available: a 116 horsepower model and a more powerful 150 horsepower version. Two further hybrid models will follow later along with a T-Roc R which will be the most powerful range-topping variant.

Price and release
We don’t have a confirmed date for the new T-Roc’s arrival, but it will likely be early 2026. Volkswagen has yet to reveal exact UK prices and specifications, but prices will start from 30,845 euros in Europe and we expect it to cost from around £30,000 here.
What other cars from Volkswagen are due this year?
Volkswagen teased the ID.2all concept way back in 2023 and we are hoping to see a finished Polo-sized electric hatchback soon. We are also looking forward to the ID.Every1, an electric spiritual successor to the Up! which is due to arrive in 2027.

What other cars that are upcoming will this compete with?
The T-Roc competes against a countless list compact SUVs from well-known models such as the Renault Captur and Ford Puma to new entrants like the Omoda 5 and upcoming Jaecoo 5.
