Volkswagen Amarok Pickup (2023 - ) review
The original Volkswagen Amarok proved popular with those who wanted a premium pickup, but Volkswagen took the decision to withdraw the truck from the UK market in 2020. Wind the clock on three years and a new Amarok entered the fray, the result of a joint venture with Ford. Autotrader’s Tom Roberts reports.

The Autotrader expert verdict:
Available new from £57,325
Benefiting from the tried and trusted design of the Ford Ranger, the Amarok has everything the image conscious pickup owner might want, and whether the truck is to be used for business or pleasure it ticks all the boxes. It looks great, has a cutting-edge cab design and, currently, a superb after sales package is included. Quite where the tax-unfriendly Aventura model fits in though I’m not too sure as it’s no competitor to the Ford Raptor performance pickup truck.
Reasons to buy:
- Volkswagen brand image combined with trusted Ford DNA.
- Drives well, even among some tough competition.
- An excellent 5-year servicing and warranty package as standard.
