Design and models available

Toyota has described the design of the new Urban Cruiser as “urban tech” featuring a “hammerhead” frontal design, razor slim headlights and a bigger, chunkier back end. It’s slightly bigger than a Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid, offering more room in the rear and load space. There’s no confirmation on trim levels yet, but we do know the two battery sizes will be offered on the FWD versions coming to the UK.
Interior and tech
The interior is the usual Toyota standard, with a clever sliding system on the rear seats allowing you to increase either the cabin space or boot space depending on your needs. The driver has a good elevated position with a slim 10.4-inch screen behind the steering wheel and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation. We were told the premium trims will also get a 360-degree camera, JBL sound system and powered driver seat, and that a fixed sunroof will also be an option.
Batteries and range

The Urban Cruiser will be offered with two battery sizes - 49kWh and 61kWh - on the FWD versions, and only the 61kWh unit on the AWD version, though this version won't be coming to the UK for now. On the FWD versions, range will be determined by the battery size with the smaller unit offering up to 186 miles, and the larger one up to 250 miles.
Price and release

This is a new model and therefore hard to pin a price to. However, the vehicle is set to launch in the UK towards the end of 2025, but with no UK specifications or model range yet confirmed we will have to wait and see.
