Responsible Motorhome Buying and Selling with Auto Trader

Share
Whilst campsites and touring sites remain closed until further notice, the recent government announcements have given us a bit more clarity on what we might be able to expect from holidays over the coming months.

Traditional summer holidays abroad might be unlikely, but there could still be lots of opportunity to look at a staycation once restrictions start to lift. And what better way to do this in a socially distanced way, than in your own motorhome.

If you’ve been considering a motorhome it has been difficult to buy and especially collect one over the last 9 weeks during lockdown. But the easing of restrictions in England (the rest of the UK is still adhering to full lockdown restrictions for now) means that motorhome and campervan dealers can open from June 1st.

That’s why we’ve been looking for ways to help you buy a motorhome or campervan for your next holiday whilst keeping the amount of physical contact to a minimum.
Contact-free options for responsible motorhome buying and selling
We’re introducing new feature flags to all Auto Trader Motorhome adverts. They will highlight a new feature that retailers have adopted to allow you to do all the normal research you would want to do when making such a big investment, whilst keeping you safe and observing social distancing.
COVID-19 safety measures
It’s understandable that you might be a bit more concerned about visiting a dealership in a “normal” way, even when restrictions begin to lift. So to overcome any social distancing worries you might have, from the 20th May retailers will be able to highlight the measures they’ve taken to make your buying experience safer on their Auto Trader adverts.

Motorhome dealers across the UK are determined to keep you safe and healthy throughout your research and purchase, so this dedicated space in each advert will show the measures they’ve taken. They might include:

• Operating by appointment only (which you can make on Auto Trader via the email, call or chat buttons on the ad).
• Click and collect services, allowing you to stay safe while picking up the motorhome yourself
• Adhering to two metres social distancing on forecourts.
• Complete sanitisation of vehicles.
• Using staff personal protection equipment (PPE), sneeze screens and other health and safety measures.
• Making PPE and hand sanitisers available to customers.

Look out for the COVID-19 safety measures icon, to see what they can do for you.
Home delivery
This feature will show you if a retailer is providing home delivery to your location.

Collection and delivery services from and to a customer’s address are currently permitted within the government guidelines, for both vehicles sales and aftersales.

Motorhomes will be sanitised before delivery, and retailers are following industry best practice guidelines on social distancing, hygiene and sanitisation.

Look out for the home delivery icon on the motorhome advert, to see if the dealer can offer you this service.
Live video viewing
A motorhome is a big investment, and the research of this is incredibly important, especially if this is the first time you’re buying one. So to replace a forecourt visit, you’ll soon be able to book a video viewing and vehicle walk-around.

If you see the live video viewing icon on the motorhome advert, you can arrange it directly with the retailer. They’ll walk you around the motorhome via video and give you to time ask all the necessary questions, just like you would in person.
We’re introducing these feature across Auto Trader – including cars, bikes, caravans and vans – to make sure you can stay confident throughout the site.
How you can stay safe
We encourage everyone to follow NHS advice and Government guidelines. These include:

• Stay at home as much as possible
• Limit your contact with other people
• Stay at least two metres (six feet) away from others if you do go out
• Continue to wash your hands regularly.
