More about Dan Trent
Dan has more or less made his career writing about the things he loves, starting out as a music journalist and games reviewer before making cars his full-time specialism in 2001. He was on the founding editorial team for Mercedes Enthusiast magazine, taking on the editorship and then moving to editorial agency Motoring Research, where he helped manage reviews and content for MSN’s car pages.
In 2011 he became editor of PistonHeads.com, his passion for performance cars a perfect fit for the site’s enthusiast audience. This opened the door for his first taste of racing, competition highlights including racing classic Jaguars at Silverstone and two visits to Japan to compete in MX-5s at Tsukuba circuit. Little wonder he’s such a fan of the little Mazda and owns an early pop-up headlight version himself.
A freelancer since 2017, Dan has written for Autoblog in the US, Goodwood Road & Racing, Octane, 911 & Porsche World and many others. As passionate as ever about performance cars, Dan’s just as happy writing about city cars, EVs and family cars and brings his wide-ranging expertise to Autotrader’s Expert Reviews and other motoring content. When not on four wheels you’ll find him just as happy on two, chucking himself down steep, muddy hillsides in his native Yorkshire on his mountain bike, wife and two kids in hot pursuit.
