The Taycan has been a great success for Porsche, offering a distinctive blend of practicality, electric performance, and a suitably engaging driving experience. When Rory reviewed the new entry-level Taycan he loved how fun it was to drive and enjoyed the increased power compared to the previous model. So, what happens when Porsche ups that power even further creating a Taycan capable of out-accelerating hypercars? Enter the Taycan Turbo GT.
With a 0-62mph time of 2.2 seconds and up to 1,100 horsepower, the Taycan Turbo GT is faster than a Tesla Model S Plaid. It’s also twice as powerful as the 911 GT3 RS, winner of the Rory Reid Award at our New Car Awards last year. The numbers certainly look impressive on paper, so Rory had to find out what it’s like to drive. While many would consider the acceleration of the standard Taycan Turbo GT more than enough, there’s also a Taycan Turbo GT Weissach Package designed specifically for the racetrack. Available for the same price, this features a massive rear wing and extreme weight saving measures, up to and including removing the rear seats! This is the version Rory puts through its paces on the track, explaining where all the power comes from and how the clever Active Ride suspension feels through the corners. However, with more doors than seats, does this defeat the purpose of the Taycan entirely? You’ll have to watch the video to find out Rory’s verdict.
