BMW is committed to its path of electrification and is soon to launch the first of its Neue Klasse EVs with the new iX3. But it hasn’t forgotten the need to throw some red meat to its more traditional fans every now and then, this all-new M2 CS very much catering to the brand’s petrolhead fans.
Rory would count himself as one of them and has always loved the M2’s combination of M3 engine and chassis parts and smaller 2 Series body. Unlike the M3 and M4 it’s also true to BMW’s rear-wheel drive roots. Which, with that much power, makes it a properly lairy driving experience. Here Rory walks round the new CS version of the M2, this being a leaner, more muscular twist on the regular car with more power and – crucially – a much-needed diet shaving around 30kg of flab. The 530 horsepower matches that in the regular M3 and is a 50 horsepower gain over the standard M2 which, combined with the weight saving, makes for a dramatic increase in performance. But that’s only the start. As Rory details in the video, the M2 CS gets upgrades from nose to tail, with carbon fibre body parts, improved aerodynamics, some very natty gold wheels and plenty of extra trimmings inside as well. All for a price that makes Rory very happy indeed. We can’t wait to see him put it through its paces but, for now, drink in the looks, tech and features and look forward to when Rory can see what it does out on the track. If you enjoyed the video and aren’t already a subscriber to the YouTube channel make sure you sign up and hit the bell. for a tip-off for when the next one lands. Until then!
