We all know that BMW’s M division has produced some of the best performance cars ever over the years. Now, though, it aims to scale new heights with the M8 Competition. This, believe it or not, is BMW’s most powerful production car ever, with a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 under the bonnet that develops a mind-boggling 625 horsepower.
This kind of power, not to mention a six-figure price tag, takes the M car into new territory. Whereas most BMW models go up against mainstream brand rivals, the most obvious competitors for the M8 Competition are built by brands such as Aston Martin, Bentley and Porsche.
BMW M8 Competition top speed
The M8 Competition is certainly quick enough, with a 0-62mph time of just 3.2 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155mph, but the optional M Driver’s Package bumps it up to an unrestricted 191mph. To help you get the car’s awesome power to the road, BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system comes as standard. Alternatively, as Rory Reid finds out in our video review, you can switch to rear-wheel drive, put your foot down and perform burnouts worthy of a Fast and Furious movie.
BMW M8 Competition price
So, the M8 Competition is massively capable and massively fast. But with prices starting at more than £120,000, it’s also pretty expensive. Does the M8 Competition do enough to justify its lofty price tag? Does it feel special enough? Rory Reid finds out in our exclusive video review.
