Try, Buy, Dream – December 2025
This month’s selection of cars to try out, buy or simply dream about

Trying a car has never been easier – lots of car brands now offer subscription services on a monthly basis, with no down payment or exit fee so you can swap in and out of different models with minimal notice. Or you can lock in for longer, on a leasing deal, which still means you just pay a monthly amount and hand the car back at the end of the deal. Additionally, some brands provide 24-hour test drives for a chance to get to know the car before you commit.
Then there’s the Buy choice, whether it’s paying for the car in one hit or signing up to a fixed term finance deal with the option to buy the car at the end. These are cars that make good long-term sense. And finally our fave section, for dreamers everywhere. The new luxe stuff, the wishlist option or the treat yourself splurge, depending on how big that imagined windfall might be. Enjoy this month’s offerings!

Leapmotor B10
Chinese brand Leapmotor launched earlier this year and it currently has three electric cars on sale ranging from the tiny T03 city car to the large C10 SUV. In the middle sits the B10, a roomy Skoda Elroq-size family SUV packed with all the latest tech as standard. Leapmotor is backed by Stellantis – owner Citroën, Fiat, Vauxhall and more – and all its electric models are currently available for 24-hour test drives. These provide a great way to get to know an EV before committing to making the switch, so we reckon you should get a B10 booked in to try this month.

Buy

Mini Electric Countryman
If you love the Mini brand but your growing family no longer fits into a three-door Mini Cooper, then the Countryman might be just the car for you. Taking Mini’s unique sense of style and expanding it into a Qashqai-size package, the Countryman is both characterful and commanding. We enjoyed putting the sporty petrol-powered JCW version through its paces on long-term test, which is one of the reasons we’ve picked the fully electric version as our buy for this month. The other reason is the Electric Countryman qualifies for the maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant, so this plug-in Mini now looks even more appealing.

Dream
Corvette C8 Stingray
This month we are fantasising about living the American dream with a loud and proud V8 Corvette. We were lucky enough to spend some time with the Stingray version recently and we were instantly hooked on the burbling engine, the bold styling and the fantastic handling. The Corvette is finally available with right-hand drive, making it much easier to live with in the UK. Plus, if you adjust the settings, it can be surprising refined, so you could use it daily. However, while this flamboyant sports car is more affordable across the pond, you’ll need Porsche 911 money to buy one over here so once we’d had our fun, we reluctantly had to return our test car and keep on dreaming.
