Trying a car has never been easier – lots of car brands now offer subscription services on a monthly basis, with no down payment or exit fee so you can swap in and out of different models with minimal notice. Or you can lock in for longer, on a leasing deal, which still means you just pay a monthly amount and hand the car back at the end of the deal. Additionally, some brands provide 24-hour test drives for a chance to get to know the car before you commit.
Then there’s the Buy choice, whether it’s paying for the car in one hit or signing up to a fixed term finance deal with the option to buy the car at the end. These are cars that make good long-term sense. And finally our fave section, for dreamers everywhere. The new luxe stuff, the wishlist option or the treat yourself splurge, depending on how big that imagined windfall might be. Enjoy this month’s offerings!

Try

Fiat 500e
The ‘new’ Fiat 500 was a huge hit when it arrived nearly 20 years ago, and the all-electric 500e has all the charm of its sister with added refinement making it nicer to drive. The chic 500e has been around for a while and faces stiff competition from newcomers such as the Renault 5 and Hyundai Inster. Yet, it still stands out for its combination of style and substance, especially if you opt for the 500e C with its retractable canvas roof. This makes it the perfect car for fashion-conscious sun worshipers on the hunt for a little runabout. If you are new to electric cars you might wonder whether plugging in is right for you, so Fiat is offering 24-hour test drives to give you more time to find out how the 500e would fit into your lifestyle before you commit to buying one.

Buy

Renault 5
It’s fair to say the Renault 5 gained a lot of attention when it launched last year. However, impressively it lives up to the hype thanks to its funky design, great tech, and its super appealing price. The R5 is now in UK dealerships, and we think you should buy one. We love how it looks inside and out, plus being all-electric makes it smooth and easy-going to drive. With two battery options there should be a version to suite most people’s needs and while the eye-popping green paint won’t be for everyone, there are more understated colours on offer. You can also add more personality to your R5 by choosing from a range of external stickers and 3D printed accessories.

Dream

Volkswagen California
The sun has finally come out of hibernation and this spell of warmer weather has us dreaming of summer getaways. While you could book an all-inclusive resort in the Algarve, a staycation in a Volkswagen California is more up our street. Whether you take this capably camper on a trip to the wilds of Scotland or the beaches of Cornwall, the California has everything you need – particularly if you choose Ocean trim with all the bells and whistles. We’ll take ours with two-tone blue and white paint, please! But, while it is inherently cool, the chunky price-tag the unpredictable British weather means we’ll have to keep on dreaming on.
