While out in Hamburg reviewing the brand-new, all-electric AMG GT 4-Door Rory ALSO got the chance to review the subject of this video – the new AMG GLC 53 Coupe. In just two hours with the car, Rory put its performance to the test covering ride quality, advanced chassis dynamics like rear-axle steering, a 0-62 test and an unrestricted Autobahn top-speed run to see if it lives up to (or beats) the claims.
There’s a general feeling that this latest AMG GLC answers ‘enthusiast backlash’ to Mercedes replacing its larger performance engines with four-cylinder plug-in hybrid setups. In what feels like a course correction, this new GLC 53 drops the four-cylinder for an “old-school brute” 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine with mild-hybrid assistance. If Rory’s reactions to the exhaust’s popping and banging are anything to go by, he definitely had fun with it.
