Video | Ferrari Amalfi Spider – has Ferrari nailed it?

It’s fair to say Rory Reid was a fan of the Ferrari Roma Spider, but what will he make of its replacement? In this video Rory gets behind the wheel of the Amalfi Spider – Ferrari’s entry-level and most user-friendly convertible.

We had our first glimpse the Amalfi when Alex Legouix drove the coupe version earlier this year and it didn’t disappoint. But does taking the top off make the Amalfi even better still?

Rory has driven the full spectrum of Ferrari’s range from the 849 Testarossa to the 12 Cilindri and 296 GTS, so he is very well placed to evaluate the Amalfi Spider. On paper the Amalfi is the least impressive of Ferrari’s line-up. Its 640 horsepower and 3.3 second 0-62mph time look modest in a world where you can buy an electric MG with more power and faster acceleration. But speed isn’t everything and the Amalfi Spider’s old-school V8 engine and joyous gearbox are clearly a winning combination in Rory’s book.

So, is the Amalfi Spider another example of Ferrari at its best and how does it really shape up against its predecessor? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
