Italy famously gave us La Dolce Vita and Ferrari, but could the Amalfi be the ultimate combination of the two? In this video Alex Legouix gets behind the wheel of Ferrari's latest grand tourer to find out whether it is a worthy successor to the resplendent Roma.
From the outside the Amalfi very looks similar to its predecessor. After all, it is still a sleek, rear-wheel drive, two-seat coupe, with a couple of teeny tiny rear seats in the back. Ferrari has not messed with its tried and tested formula but, as Alex discovers, the Amalfi does does have some noticeable design differences versus the Roma. Inside is where things get more interesting. The Amalfi gets a whole new interior, and Ferrari has wisely reinstated its iconic big red physical start button and other tactile controls alongside the obligatory touch-screen. But, what's the Amalfi like to drive? In short, it's heavenly. The smile on Alex's face says it all as she stretches the Amalfi's legs, enjoying all of the twin-turbo V8's 640 horsepower. Alex explains how the Amalfi has received some subtle tweaks to improve performance and how Ferrari has introduced new brake-by-wire technology, too. The Amalfi manages to be both easy-going and fun when pushed, so it is the most user-friendly Ferrari yet? You'll have to watch to the end of the video to find out. If you enjoyed this video give it a like and let Alex know whether you prefer the Roma or the Amalfi in the YouTube comments. You can also subscribe for more like it.
