It’s hard to believe it has already been four years since Citroën launched the Ami. While some may have initially dismissed the electric quadricycle as a gimmick, this small urban vehicle has proven popular, with around 65,000 already sold. To celebrate the Ami’s birthday, Citroën is giving it a fresh new look, leaning into its characterful nature by giving it face-like features and nods to the iconic 2CV.

2025 Citroen Ami
The new Ami for 2025 has just been revealed at the Paris Motor Show alongside the new C4, C4 X and C5 Aircross Concept as Citroën revamps its model line-up. The Ami remains the same compact size but gains a friendlier face with raised headlights resembling big eyes on a black surround made to look like eyelids. The new Citroën badge features more prominently and is angled outwards like a nose. Down the side there's a small corrugated section reminiscent of the bonnet pattern on the 2CV and it retains the the windows which open upwards. A pop of colour is then added by the bright red checkerboard on the wheel trims. As before, there's symmetry at the front and back with the red of the taillights the most obvious difference.
The changes to the original are aesthetic and underneath you’ll still have a restricted top speed of 28mph and 46-mile range. While there’s nothing quite like an Ami, we have recently seen the Microlino bubble car inspired quadricycle enter this space. The Microlino is drastically more expensive than the previous Ami and, although Citroën has yet to give us an indication of price for the 2025 Ami, we hope it retains its affordable price tag.

The Ami Tower

Alongside this new Ami, Citroën has created the Ami Tower for its stand at the Paris Motor Show. This is a six-metre-high stack of three unique Amis highlighting its versatility. The tower comprises of the ‘My Ami for All’, a specially adapted Ami for people who have lost the use of one or both of their lower limbs. This helps give independence to those with reduced mobility by allowing them to access the vehicle, store their wheelchair and drive with ease.
Then there’s the ‘My Ami Pep’s’. This ami has been made to look sporty with a rear spoiler, decorative stickers, plus bright red and yellow highlights. Inside it has a variety of practical features including door nets, storage bins and a bag hook. There’s also a smartphone clip where you can attach your phone and use it as a dashboard to display navigation or control the radio with the help of the Citroën Switch button on the steering wheel. Finally, there’s the ‘My Ami Rose Festival’ which is decorated to take part in the Rose Festival, a cultural festival in Toulouse which works to bring the arts to young people and others for whom they may otherwise be out of reach.

Ami Buggy Vision Concept

Additionally, Citroën has the Ami Buggy Vision concept on display and there were strong hints some form of Ami Buggy may go into production next year. We’ve seen a buggy version of the Ami before but this one is themed around kite surfing. The result is a beach-ready electric vehicle in an almost purple 'Midnight blue' with the addition of a white roof and a white Citroën badge. It’s open to the elements with no doors and the addition of a sunroof. However, there is a specially designed hook where the doors should be allowing you to attach your kite surf board and the designers have also added a luggage compartment to store a kite sail.
To make it look more outdoorsy, the Ami Buggy Vision has been given chunky tyres and black tinted wheel arch protectors inspired by the Oli concept. Tinted glass has been used in the headlamps turning them yellow, reminiscent of the 2CV and there’s also an LED lightbar so you can continue your beach parties into the night. Inside, Citroën has added its Advanced Comfort seats with orange highlights and the same colour is also used on the dashboard. The phrase “Like No One” is emblazoned across the dashboard, aptly summarising the distinctive and very Citroën overall look.
