Audi’s high-performance RS range has long garnered acclaim, with the RS6 being lauded as the pinnacle of Audi’s power. But now, there’s an electric contender heading for that top spot: the Audi RS E-Tron GT.
So which one reigns supreme? Rory Reid and Alex Legouix line up on the drag strip to put the new Audi RS6 Performance against the electric Audi RS E-Tron GT in a straight line battle. Buckle up for an epic battle between combustion and electric power!

The RS6 Performance

The Audi RS6 Performance has always been admired for its blistering speed. This year, Audi has upped the ante with an impressive 630 hp. A 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine generates a whopping 850 Nm of torque, and the car accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Although its top speed is limited to 155 mph, that torque means you’re still getting a force to be reckoned with.

The RS e-tron GT

While the RS e-tron GT may have slightly less power at 630 hp, it compensates with an astounding 830 Nm of torque. And because it’s all-electric, that torque is delivered instantly. The RS e-tron GT is Audi's first electric performance vehicle, with a top speed of 180 mph and a 0 to 62 mph time of just over 3 seconds.

Combustion engines vs electric power

Combustion and electric driving experiences still have clear contrasts. There’s the amount of power available, how it’s delivered, and what you can do with it. But there’s also what it feels like.
Performance varies across makes and models, but a good petrol or diesel offers an engaging ride, energetic performance, and powerful acceleration, alongside the visceral sound of the engine. In contrast, electric cars provide a smooth and quiet driving experience. Electric motors deliver instant torque for rapid acceleration and responsiveness. The absence of engine noise creates a serene atmosphere, while regenerative braking and one-pedal driving enhance control and efficiency.
