Trying a car has never been easier – some car brands now offer subscription services on a monthly basis, with no down payment or exit fee so you can swap in and out of different models with minimal notice. Or you can lock in for longer, on a leasing deal, which still means you just pay a monthly amount and hand the car back at the end of the deal. Additionally, some brands provide 24-hour test drives for a chance to get to know the car before you commit.
Then there’s the Buy choice, whether it’s paying for the car in one hit or signing up to a fixed term finance deal with the option to buy the car at the end. These are cars that make good long-term sense. And finally our fave section, for dreamers everywhere. The new luxe stuff, the wishlist option or the treat yourself splurge, depending on how big that imagined windfall might be. Enjoy this month’s offerings!

Try

Blue Ford Explorer

Ford Explorer

If you are looking for a medium-size electric SUV, the Ford Explorer is a solid choice. With its chunky looks, decent range and roomy interior the Explorer adds a Ford twist on Volkswagen ID.4 foundations. While the Explorer’s full list price starts to look expensive as you move through the grades, Ford is currently offering compelling finance deals. Alternatively, if you don’t want to commit to buying an Explorer, you could consider leasing one from Autotrader for as little as £229 per month.

Buy

Black Xpeng G6

Xpeng G6

The sleek Xpeng G6 is a Chinese newcomer which deserves your attention. This mid-size SUV has all the tech you’d expect to find in a Tesla for less than the cost of a Model Y. All models come with an extensive list of standard features, and we were particularly impressed by the intuitive touch-screen, unobtrusive driver aids and the airy interior. There’s really a lot to like about this Xpeng which is why it’s our pick to buy this month.

Dream

Light blue Ferrari 849 Testarossa

Ferrari 849 Testarossa

What happens if you take the V8 engine from a Ferrari SF90 Stradale, add some purposeful bodywork, a small battery pack and three electric motors? Well … the 849 Testarossa happens. This 1,050-horsepower beast is every bit as worthy of dream car status as the iconic Testarossa models of yesteryear. Fast, imposing, expensive, modern, yet still very much a true Ferrari. If only we had a spare £400,000 and our own private racetrack to enjoy the 849’s performance to the full … alas … we will just keep on dreaming.
