We can now reveal that the Kia PV5 electric van has launched and will be offered in two lengths and two heights, with two battery options and in two trim grades (depending on body type). There will be three main commercial vehicle body types: Cargo, Crew and Chassis Cab. Cargo pre-orders open on the 1st of May 2025 with the first UK customer deliveries beginning from late 2025.
The PV5 will be available at launch in only L2H1 format across Cargo and Crew versions, and L2 for the Chassis Cab version. Cargo versions in L1H1 and L2H2 will follow in 2026. A Passenger variant is also available.

What Pricing Has Been Confirmed For The PV5?

Pricing will start from £27,645 (+VAT) for the PV5 Cargo ‘Essential’ with the standard range battery, rising to £30,145 (+VAT) if you opt for the long range battery. In addition, the Plug-in Van Grant (PIVG) further reduces the prices by up to £5,000, which makes the initial purchase prices highly competitive in the current market.

When Will Orders Open On The PV5?

Kia PV5 Cargo pre-orders will begin on the 1st of May 2025, with the first UK customer deliveries beginning in late 2025. Other PV5 Cargo variants (including the PV5 Crew and Chassis Cab versions) will have their pricing confirmed later this year.

What Equipment Levels Will The PV5 Be Offered In?

Keeping it simple, Kia is offering the PV5 in two simple trims, ‘Essential’ and ‘Plus’, with the choice of battery size offering greater payload or range. The standard range 51.5kWh battery pack will provide a greater payload due to being lighter, while the long range 71.2kWh battery pack adds range at the expense of payload. Entry-grade ‘Essential’ will include 16-inch steel wheels with full size wheel cover, automatic headlight control, LED headlights, daytime running lights, rear lights and rear fog lights, rain sensing front wipers, and electrically adjustable heated door mirrors with LED indicators. On the outside you’ll get a body coloured bumper with black moulding, non-painted side sills and wheel arches and gloss black wing mirror housing. Inside, you’ll get a two-spoke ‘bio-artificial’ leather steering wheel, electric one-touch front windows, automatic air conditioning and window defogger system, a start/stop button with smart entry system, a 7.5-inch driver display screen, a 12.9-inch touchscreen navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connection with voice recognition, two USB-C ports (front) and a two-speaker audio system. LED lighting is included in the cabin and cargo space. Safety systems include front and rear parking sensors and reversing camera system, forward collision-avoidance assist, highway driving assist, lane keep assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, intelligent speed limit assist and limiter, driver and passenger airbags, front thorax, pelvis, and curtain airbags, a Thatcham category one alarm system and an immobiliser. ‘Plus’ trim adds Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) interior and V2X capability, V2L capability with external charging port adapter, heated front seats and heated steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, electric folding door mirrors, blind-spot collision avoidance, safe exit warning, rear cross traffic collision avoidance, and an optional ‘Plus’ trim only heat pump (the cost of which is still TBC.

What Warranty Will The PV5 Be Covered By?

All PV5 variants will come with a strong seven-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard, plus an eight-year warranty on the battery. This is excellent peace of mind in a marketplace where three-to-five-year warranties are commonplace.

Is The PV5 Capable Of Fast Charging?

All PV5 variants offer 400V fast charging capability, this means that both batteries can be charged from 10-to-80% in less than 30 minutes when connected to a 150kW charging point.

What Is The PV5 Interior Like?

Cargo, Crew and Chassis Cab models will offer two cloth seats for the driver and passenger finished in a pleasant dark blue trim. Centrally mounted in the dashboard is a 12.9-inch touchscreen display powered by a clean and crisp Android Automotive operating system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The drivers get a 7.5-inch digital instrument display behind the steering wheel.

What Driving Ranges Are The PV5s Capable Of?

The Cargo version is offered with the choice of either a standard range 51.5kWh or long range 71.2kWh battery packs in the UK, with the ability to travel up to 181 miles or 247 miles. Both ‘Essential’ and ‘Plus’ grades are available. The Crew version is exclusively available in L2/H1 form and with the standard range 51.5kWh battery pack to deliver up to 174 miles of range on a single charge. The Chassis Cab version will be available with both battery pack options, with driving range from a single charge pegged at 155 miles for the standard battery or 217 miles for the long range battery.

What Load Volumes And Payloads Will The PV5s Be Able To Carry?

The Cargo versions will be capable of carrying load volumes of up to 4.4 cubic metres in the L2/H1 format meaning two standard Euro pallets can fit in the cargo space. Max payload is 790kg for models fitted with the standard range battery, with that dropping to 690kg on those vehicles fitted with the long range battery. Cargo volume will increase to 5.1 cubic metres in the L2/H2 and decrease to 4 cubic metres in the L1/H1. Crew versions will be able to carry payloads of up to 605kg, with the cargo area offering load volumes between 2.4-3.7 cubic metres. The Chassis Cab version will be able to carry 995kg, if fitted with the long range battery option.

What Is The PV5 Cargo’s Accessibility Like?

As standard, the Cargo versions feature two cab doors and a single sliding door on the nearside to access the cargo area. You can add an extra side door, if you like, and all Cargo variants come with a split rear door opening featuring detachable hinges. Racking, flooring, and additional security features are available as options.

What Is The PV5 Crew’s Seating Like?

The Crew version features two front seats and a rear bench that can be folded and slid forwards or backwards depending on whether you want to carry people or cargo. The bulkhead is attached to the back of the second-row seats, making a neat solution to protecting passengers from the cargo.

What Conversions Will The PV5 Chassis Cab Be Launched With?

Details will be available at a later date in 2025, hopefully.

What Paint Colours Will The PV5s Be Available In?

PV5 Cargo, Crew and Chassis Cab ‘Essential’ models are provided in Solid White colouring as standard. Alternatively, you can choose from five premium colours – White Pearl, Midnight Black, Cityscape Green, Steel Grey and Mint Green – for an additional £625 (+VAT).

When Will Future Vans Be Launched By Kia?

The PV5 is Kia’s first electric van. It will be followed by the larger PV7 electric van (planned for launch in 2027) and the Kia PV9 (scheduled for its introduction in 2029).
