Kia has officially launched the PV7 electric van at the 2026 IAA Transportation Show. Here's everything we know about it

The PV7 joins Kia’s ‘Platform Beyond Vehicle’ (PBV) lineup in the electric light commercial vehicle market. Kia unveiled teaser images of the Kia PV7 ahead of its global debut at IAA Transportation in September… but now we have plenty of information to share!
Is the Kia PV7 bigger than the PV5?
Yes, the Kia PV7 will provide increased space and capabilities beyond the PV5 “meeting the evolving needs of business customers across a broader range of commercial and lifestyle use cases”, in the company’s own words. It looks set to be about the same size as a ‘normal’ medium-sized van.
What will the Kia PV7 Cargo offer drivers?
The Kia PV7 Cargo will be available in two-seat and three-seat layouts with a maximum payload carrying ability between 1,165 kg (on the Long variant) and 1,200 kg ( on the Compact variant). Load volume is up to 6.1 cubic metres on the Cargo Long and stretches up to 8.0 cubic metres in the Cargo High Roof. The Long model features a low 550 mm loading height capable of fitting up to three Euro pallets.
Bet there’s a few medium vans already in-market looking over their shoulders nervously.
What will the Kia PV7 Passenger offer drivers?
Meanwhile, the Kia PV7 Passenger will be capable of carrying up to nine passengers in global models and up to 11 in the Korean variants. It packs some nice touches like Long-Rail Easy Remove Seats on the seven-seat models, customisable multi-row seating on the nine-seat models, and passenger-focused features such as USB-C charging ports and rear climate control.
What battery packs and tech does the Kia PV7 feature?
Both Cargo and Passenger models will share the same battery packs (71.5 kWh or 96.2 kWh), providing over 285 miles of WLTP range (on the Long Range Cargo model). Fast charging will fill up the ‘tank’ from 10 to 80 per cent in around 20-30 minutes, the vans will all feature V2L capability for powering external devices, and dual 12.9-inch and 14.6-inch displays.
Is the Kia PV7 built on the same platform as the PV5?
Yes, the Kia PV7 is built on the company’s E-GMP.S platform and is the brand’s second dedicated PBV model.
When will the Kia PV7 be available?
We recently reported on teaser images of Kia’s new PV7 electric van… and now we’ve seen it in the flesh as the van was officially launched at the show in Cargo and Passenger formats. Both versions are currently planned to launch in Europe in the second half of 2027. Although pricing has not been confirmed, if it’s anything like as good as the PV5’s pricing Kia could be onto another winner.
What did the teaser images tell us about the Kia PV7?
Well, not a lot. The teaser images plopped the PV7 in a range of everyday settings with it sneaking into frame in a few different scenes. We've since seen it in-person and have updated the images accordingly.
