Mitsubishi has confirmed the commercial version of its all-new L200 pick-up truck is coming to the UK, and that it’s been “created for the most challenging of industrial and rural environments”. And having just spent a week with the double cab version of the new L200, we can attest to its toughness and comfort… and confirm it’s nice to see the L200 back in the UK.

The commercial version delivers some tax advantages for business users, including reclaimable VAT, 100% first year capital allowance, fixed annual road tax, and the Benefit in Kind (BiK) flat rate of £4,170 (based on 2026/27 figures). With that in mind, let’s get into the juicy details.

How is the Mitsubishi L200 Commercial different to the standard pick-up truck?

The Mitsubishi L200 Commercial is fitted with a perforated steel bulkhead behind the cabin, its rear seats and seatbelts removed, and a durable load floor with four lashing points fitted in their place. The rear passenger doors are also fitted with privacy glass to complete the conversion. This creates a second smaller load space where the rear seats would be for use alongside the vehicle’s main rear cargo bed.

How practical is the Mitsubishi L200 Commercial?

After conversion, the Mitsubishi L200 Commercial can carry a payload in excess of one tonne and tow up to 3,500 kg. The main rear load space is 1.5 metres long by 1.54 m wide, with a depth of 526 mm, and features lashing points to secure your load in place. A standard 1200 x 800 mm Euro pallet can be carried in the rear, alongside tools and materials.

What is the Mitsubishi L200 Commercial’s maximum payload carrying capacity?

Depending on which trim level of the Mitsubishi L200 Commercial you choose, the payload is slightly different. The ‘Titan’ and ‘Barbarian’ spec trucks can carry a maximum payload of 1,092 kg and 1,025 kg, respectively, and both have an 80 kg roof load capacity.

What engine does the Mitsubishi L200 Commercial use?

The Mitsubishi L200 Commercial is powered by a 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Available on both the Titan and Barbarian trims, is the company’s rear-wheel drive, shift-on-the-fly optional four-wheel drive system, which includes seven selectable modes to help you tackle a range of environments. The Barbarian trim’s Super Select 4WD II system (featuring torque-sensing locking centre differential) allows you to use full-time four-wheel drive on and off normal roads.

What does Mitsubishi have to say about the L200 Commercial?

Alex Sheward, Head of Sales for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, commented: “The new commercial variant joins the range with the kerbside appeal and practicality of the all-new L200 Series 7, together with the tax benefits of its commercial status.” They added that the the addition of a commercial option in both Titan and Barbarian specifications should expand its audience and mean it fits a variety of business needs.

How much will the Mitsubishi L200 Commercial cost?

The Mitsubishi L200 Commercial in Titan specification is priced from £37,495 and the Barbarian specification from £41,195.
