Riding shotgun in a Holland & Holland Overfinch Range Rover

Holland & Holland has joined with Overfinch to create its own edition of the Range Rover SV… because the SV wasn’t luxurious enough, apparently.

Country sports and luxury SUVs go together like fine wine and cheese, so the Holland & Holland Edition Range Rover SV created in partnership with Overfinch and the famous shotgun manufacturer was an inevitability. With its sights firmly levelled at shooting enthusiasts and collectors, the special edition vehicle takes its design cues from Holland & Holland’s flagship ‘Royal’ Side by Side shotgun, and only 25 of them will be made… most of which (we were told at the launch) have already been sold to a select list of Overfinch customers.
As the special edition vehicle was revealed at the Holland & Holland (H&H) shooting ground near London, Overfinch Chairman and CEO Kevin Sloane explained that the H&H Edition is a statement vehicle and the two brands “have created a Range Rover that embodies British excellence in every sense”. Michael Ray-Jones, Head of Marketing at H&H, added: “It is most apt that we should mark our 190th year with the introduction of this magnificent new edition.” This rings especially true as it comes just a few years after H&H relaunched its clothing brand and accessories line. The success of this reinvigoration of the brand makes the addition of a new luxury SUV to the H&H lineup feel like the final piece of the puzzle… and the ultimate way to show your brand loyalty.

Lock, stock… and incredible styling

So, what makes this (very) rare car so British and excellent? Quite a lot, to the point that the vehicle it’s built from is barely recognisable. The racing green exterior features the H&H insignia on the grille and the vehicle is planted to the ground on 23-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with self-levelling centre caps finished with the H&H hallmark, solid aluminium side vent detailing with engravings of H&H’s distinctive ‘Royal’ scroll, and a rear full-width light bar featuring the Overfinch blade emblem.
When we opened the doors to take a look inside, the shotgun design inspiration was unmistakable. We’re including a description of the interior as it appears in the press release because it puts it better than we ever could. “The ‘Royal’ scroll elegantly unfurls across high-touch stainless steel elements, while open pore French walnut veneers provide organic beauty and a tactile reminder of the edition’s muse.” These design elements extend to the front and rear centre consoles both featuring golden H&H inlays… the one in the front stamped with a model number to show which of the 25 it is, and the one in the rear holding champagne and glasses.
Even the steering wheel and gear selector are works of art, covered in the walnut veneer and the selector topped with a finished wooden grip. The vehicle is also available in three interior colourways – full London Tan interior with Harris Green micro piping and stitching detail, Harris Green and London Tan front to rear contrast colour split with Harris Green micro piping and stitching, and Harris Green and London Tan throughout.

Lock, stock… and two shotguns in the back

Perhaps the most luxurious thing we’ve ever seen in the back of a Range Rover are the companion chests that sit on top of each other. The upper chest’s left-hand drawer is where you stow your two champagne bottles, while the one on the right is for your Holland & Holland accessories such as eight champagne flutes, a staghorn corkscrew, two silver bottle stoppers, crockery, H&H monogrammed napkins and a complete cutlery set. The lower Companion Chest is for your two shotguns, eight whisky tumblers, two decanters and two big pewter hipflasks.

Lock, stock… and you decide the cost

The Holland & Holland Edition is available either as a complete vehicle or can be commissioned for new Range Rover models, with each one built to order and the pricing determined by how you kit it out… the sky’s the limit, really. We’ll leave you on this note from the press release: “The Holland & Holland Edition by Overfinch is as rare as it is remarkable, a fusion of artistry, British engineering and an everlasting heritage that defines a new standard of luxury.” They’re not wrong.
