"This latest 3008 is decidedly more striking than its predecessors, featuring bags of French flair and plenty of the latest tech. But does it have the substance to back up its style? Well, the 3008 is spacious with the flexibility of either hybrid or fully electric power options. There’s a lot to like with its frugal engines and unique interior, but the 3008 is expensive and up against some tough competition. While rivals like the Kia Sportage and Vauxhall Grandland are practical family cars you buy with your head, the head-turning 3008 will get its LED claws into your heart. Running costs for a Peugeot 3008
Peugeot’s premium aspirations are reflected in the 3008’s price which quickly moves into BMW X1 territory as you rise through the trim levels. Higher grade 3008s will incur the Expensive Car Supplement adding hundreds of pounds to your VED for the first five years after registration. Range-topping E-3008 models will also be stung, even after the threshold for EVs is increases from £40,000 to £50,000 in April 2026. For company drivers the largest Benefit In Kind savings can be made by choosing the E-3008, but if you're not ready to go fully electric the plug-in hybrid 3008 still offers some tax advantages. Meanwhile for private buyers the mild hybrid will likely be the most cost effective. This was the version we tested which was displaying around 50mpg throughout the course of our loan.
Reliability of a Peugeot 3008
The 3008 shares the same foundations as the larger 5008 and many other Stellantis models including the Jeep Compass, Vauxhall Grandland, and Citroën C5 Aircross. While none of these models have been around long enough to give us a definitive view of long-term reliability, you can take some reassurance the parts are tried and tested across multiple brands. All 3008s come with an industry standard three-year warranty, but the E-3008 will gain up to five more years of cover if you get your car serviced regularly by an approved Peugeot retailer.
Safety for a Peugeot 3008
All 3008s come with lane keeping assist, speed limit notifications, rear parking sensors, reversing camera and emergency braking as standard. However, you’ll want to upgrade to gain useful extras like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and alerting to oncoming traffic when reversing. GT models gain front parking sensors while range topping GT Premium gets four external cameras to give you an all-round view of your surroundings. Alternatively, you can add the 360-degree & Drive Assist Pack to lower trim levels for the full suite of systems and cameras. The camera system isn’t as good as the Nissan Qashqai’s, though, and on a dark, damp winter’s night the display is grainy and you’ll still struggle to see anything out of the back of the car when manoeuvring.
How comfortable is the Peugeot 3008
Inside, the 3008 is as distinctive as the outside. We found the small steering wheel layout easier to get on with than in smaller Peugeot models and we were able to find a comfortable driving position with the help of the electrically adjustable front seats in our GT trim test car. We love Peugeot’s use of materials and textures and particularly liked our car’s embossed Alcantara upholstery with heated front seats. There are plenty of large storage compartments and upfront feels suitable roomy. In the back there’s a decent amount of legroom, though things will feel cosy for three adults and you forego a little bit of headroom and boot space due to the swooping silhouette. Out on the road the 3008 mild hybrid we tested had a noticeably softer ride than its electric sibling. This made it very smooth at a motorway cruise, however at slower speeds it became quite bouncy over lumps in the road and roly-poly around corners.
Features of the Peugeot 3008
The interior of the 3008 is dominated by the ‘i-Cockpit’, a sweeping 21-inch curved screen that floats above the dashboard with a smaller screen used for shortcuts below. In addition, there are some physical controls for driving modes and volume. Although some of the screen menus are a bit fiddly, we like the customisable ‘i-Toggles’ and we salute Peugeot for displaying information in the driver’s eye-line. The combination of dashboard fabric and configurable ambient lighting is another highlight and a key part of the 3008’s swanky, modern, and distinctive character – though you’ll want to turn the brightness down for driving at night as it can be distracting.
Power for a Peugeot 3008
Peugeot offers the 3008 as either a mild hybrid or a more powerful plug-in hybrid with a claimed fully electric range of up to 53 miles. Alternatively, there’s the all-electric E-3008 which has both standard and long-range versions, plus a more potent all-wheel drive option. We drove the mild hybrid which combines a petrol engine with a small battery and motor to aid efficiency. This can’t cover any substantial distances in a fully electric mode, though it can manage very short bursts without the engine cutting in. Performance is moderate but perfectly adequate for getting up to motorway speeds. Despite the small sporty steering wheel, the 3008 is set up for comfort and efficiency so it’s not the most engaging to drive and its electric sibling’s firmer ride makes for better handling in corners. However, for day-to-day family life the 3008’s light steering makes it easy to manoeuvre and it is noticeably more refined than the smaller 2008.
