eBay Motors Group is an advertising platform that allows car dealerships to surface their stock on eBay, Gumtree Motors and Motors.co.uk. Formed in January 2020, eBay Motors Group is a part of the wider eBay Classifieds group. How you can find and buy a car varies depending on which platform you use. Gumtree Motors and Motors.co.uk act as traditional classified models, while you can bid on cars on eBay as well as buy cars outright.

Autotrader
Autotrader provide one destination for you to buy or sell used, approved-used and brand-new cars, along with bikes, motorhomes, caravans, trucks, plant and farm machinery. Vehicles are available to buy outright or on finance, depending on your preference.

eBay Motors Group
How you can find and buy a car varies depending on which platform you use. Gumtree Motors and Motors.co.uk act as traditional classified models, while you can bid on cars on eBay.

Autotrader offer a free online car valuation to help buyers understand how much their car is worth.

Autotrader valuations are powered by thousands of data points including over 3,500 dealer websites, car adverts listed on our site and values from major auctions, ex-fleet and lease cars. We ensure our valuations are an accurate reflection of the market and that you’re getting the fairest price point when buying or selling your car. Rather than offering data-driven valuations, eBay and Gumtree encourage you to search for similar listings. The final price on eBay may vary as they use a bidding system to sell vehicles. Gumtree’s car price index provides the average price based on user-listed data.
Checking vehicle history
eBay and Gumtree provide paid history checks in partnership with HPI. Motors.co.uk, through HPI, run identity and basic background checks before listing cars on their site.
All cars on Autotrader undergo history checks before they are listed. These ensure the vehicles aren’t stolen, scrapped, imported, exported, or written off.

Retailers and private sellers listing their cars on Autotrader are encouraged to conduct and display a full history check. This gives information on outstanding finance, recorded mileage and more. Besides the mandatory five-point check, some sellers may also get a 26-point vehicle check done which provides a comprehensive report about the car’s history, specifications and performance. As a potential buyer, you also have the option to sign up for a full vehicle check, which comes with a data guarantee of up to £30,000 for complete peace of mind.
