The fourth (and current) generation of the Renault Master large van has been announced as the International Van of the Year 2025. It is the second time a Master van has won the award with the second generation Master scooping the win in 1998. Other Renault vans previously named as winners include the Trafic medium van in 2002, the Kangoo Z.E. small electric van in 2012 (becoming the first electric commercial vehicle to win), and the next Kangoo small van winning in 2022.
The judging panel’s decision was unanimous and joint runners-up were named - Ford E-Transit Custom and Stellantis ProOne Large Van range share the second place, with the Ford Transit Courier and current Mercedes-Benz eSprinter on the shortlist.

Why Did The Renault Master Win?

Jarlath Sweeney, Chairman of the International Van of the Year Award jury, said: “The IVOTY jury were impressed with the complete new design and high levels of innovation and technology developed for the new Master range, which features advanced aerodynamics, increased usability and enhanced efficiency, space, safety and comfort. Plus the fact that its new modular platform accommodates diesel, electric and hydrogen powertrains. All attributes that meet the criteria for the award programme.”

What Does The Renault Master Offer Drivers?

Aside from the fantastic aesthetic redesign with its imposing front grille, the new Renault Master offers drivers usable 1625kg maximum payloads, 2.5-tonne towing capabilities, diesel or all-electric powertrains (the electric E-Tech models are capable of providing up to 285 miles of range), a 1.3-metre-wide side opening, the option to convert the cabin into a mobile office, a 10-inch infotainment screen and system, 20 advanced driver systems, in-cabin connectivity (USB-C, 12V, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, etc), and more.
