Following the same conversion process as most car-derived compact vans – remove back seats, level off space, add mesh bulkhead – the Renault 4 E-Tech Van is a new addition to Renault’s commercial vehicle lineup based on (you guessed it) the Renault 4 E-Tech.
Here’s what we know: - The Renault 4 E-Tech Van is a car-derived compact van converted by Qstomize - The main loadspace provides around a cubic metre of load volume and a 375 kg payload - A secondary 55-litre load space is located under the load space floor - The vehicle can be specified in one of two battery and motor combinations - Depending on which battery/motor combo is chosen, maximum range is either 191 or 254 miles - If it comes to the UK (not confirmed at time of writing) it is likely to cost around £25K excluding any taxes The brand previously entered the compact electric van market with the Renault Zoe Van, a vehicle that offered drivers 240+ miles of range and a sub-400 kg payload… which is basically what the Renault 4 E-Tech Van will offer.

Design and models available

The Renault 4 E-Tech is about as textbook a van conversion you’ll ever see on an electric car. The converting house, Qstomize, remove the back seats and level off the resulting space before fitting a mesh metal bulkhead and lashing points to create the vehicle’s load space. It looks like a Renault 4, but anyone trying to get in the back will find themselves lying on a flat surface rather than sitting in a seat.

Cargo and practicality

The converting house, Qstomize, remove the back seats and level off the resulting space before fitting a mesh metal bulkhead and lashing points to create the vehicle’s load space. The resulting space provides around a cubic metre of load volume, a payload of up to 375 kg, and a secondary 55-litre load space under the floor. Finally, you’d normally expect to see the back windows blacked out, but the renders don’t show them or the vehicle won’t have them.

Engine / powertrain

At present, the vehicle is set to be available with a choice of two battery and motor combinations, each offering different ranges. Entry-level vehicles will be fitted with a 120 bhp motor and a 40 kWh battery pack providing up to 191 miles of range, while the higher-specification vehicles will be fitted with a 147 bhp motor and 52 kWh battery pack providing up to 254 miles of range.

Price and release

The Renault 4 E-Tech Van is not confirmed for sale in the UK just yet, but if it does come to these shores then it’s likely to cost around £25K excluding any taxes.
