A new commercial variant of the Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck – the D-Max 2.2 Commercial – is now available

Isuzu has launched the D-Max 2.2 Commercial, a commercial vehicle conversion of its stalwart D-Max Double Cab pick-up truck. Available on all Double Cab versions of the truck – including DL20, DL40 and V-Cross – the D-Max 2.2 Commercial qualifies for flat rate Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) and 100% capital allowance.
How is the Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial made?
The Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial follows a familiar conversion process to a commercial vehicle, similar to how some cars are converted to commercial vehicles. The rear seats and seat belts are removed and a solid bulkhead with a mesh viewing screen inserted behind the two front seats. The former rear seating area is then levelled off and the rear door windows darkened. The addition of a ‘Commercial’ badge on the vehicle’s rear is the final flourish and clearly marks it out as a commercial version of the D-Max. Customers can add an optional bedliner to the new load space, alongside a towbar or canopy over the truck’s main external load space.
What are the Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial’s key capabilities?
The Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial can carry a payload of over one tonne and can tow up to 3,500 kg. The truck’s 2.2-litre diesel engine outputs around 160 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque using a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system allowing drivers to switch between high gear two- and four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 62 mph. A low-gear four-wheel drive mode coupled with rear diff lock and the excellent Rough Terrain Mode are included as standard across the range.
What kind of warranty cover does the Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial come with?
The New Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial comes with a convincing five-year, 125,000-mile warranty with UK and EU roadside assistance included. The only truck with a stronger warranty is the Toyota Hilux, which comes with an up-to-10-year warranty.
