Why now is the time to make the switch and enjoy all the benefits of going electric with the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter

Electric vans are a great business choice for companies keen on keeping both their costs and their carbon emissions low. Whether you’re after transport that fits your commercial ethos, or just a quiet, easy way to visit customers, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter could be just the job. Here are our five favourite features of the eSprinter van.

Low total cost of ownership

Electric vans may seem like the expensive option at first sight, but do the maths and that initial outlay can bring serious savings. Electricity is cheaper than petrol or diesel, so you’ll save money every time you charge up. On top of that, electric vans are exempt from benefit in kind (BIK), road tax (VED), congestion and ULEZ charges.
It’s also worth remembering that electric vans are generally cheaper to maintain because they have fewer moving parts. That means fewer stoppages for oil changes and cam belts. Better yet, the eSprinter comes with a generous three year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and up to 30 years free roadside assistance*. Put simply, it’s easy to see why the number of battery-powered commercial vehicles in the UK is growing rapidly.

Easy electric running

We love electric vans. They’re quiet and smooth on the move, and you get a massive dose of acceleration from standstill, which is all the more important when you’re loaded up.
For most, the distance an electric van can travel between charges will be a significant decision on whether to go green. The eSprinter offers a competitive WLTP combined range of up to 82 - 95 miles^, meaning it has more than enough electric power for local deliveries and longer motorway trips. As for charging, DC rapid charging means you can replenish 80 per cent of the eSprinter’s battery in just 30 minutes^^. You also get a free home charging point and a usefully long 8m cable. Plug the eSprinter in when you get home, or to the office, and it will charge overnight on your Home Fast Smart charge point. No more queuing up at the petrol station every morning; no more fuel cards. To help you manage your vehicle’s range, the eSpinter uses four levels of regenerative braking to recover energy when you’re out and about. You select the level to maximise efficiency and keep the show on the road.

Mercedes PRO Connect

Included for free, the Mercedes PRO connect¹ app lets you monitor the eSprinter from anywhere in the world. It notifies you if the van is involved in an accident, automatically calls for roadside assistance, and alerts you if the van is unlocked so you can remotely lock it from your phone.
The system is intelligently connected, meaning you can pinpoint your vehicle(s) on a digital map from a phone, laptop or desktop computer. Real-time alerts cover things like parts and fluid maintenance requirements, so you can avoid unexpected bills. You can also see each van’s battery charge levels through the app – another useful way to minimise downtime – and conserve battery life by programming the air conditioning and heating from wherever you are.

The eSprinter comes in one size and boasts a cargo volume of 11m3. But van life isn’t only about the payload and with drivers spending all day behind the wheel, comfort is paramount.
We love the eSprinter’s driver’s armrest, heated seat, supportive dual-passenger seat and hinged lid that reveals a generous storage compartment. You also get semi-automatic TEMPMATIC air conditioning as standard, and an overhead control panel to maximise space below. Want to check your entire surroundings? You’ll find an optional reversing camera in the rear view mirror. The eSprinter’s impressive Mercedes-Benz audio system comes with a DAB radio and a Bluetooth interface with hands-free function. There’s also a USB port so you keep your smartphone fully charged.

The eSprinter comes with a host of standard safety features on board to give drivers confidence and peace of mind in heavy traffic. Active Brake Assist preps the brakes if the van senses a collision is imminent, and Crosswind Assist steps in to help the driver correct wayward movements caused by strong gusts.
Safety for your goods is also taken care of, with double locks featuring remote locking function and an integrated connected Thatcham Category 1-approved alarm system that covers the cabin and load space, with battery back-up siren and tow-away protection. Operate a larger fleet? You can use Mercedes PRO connect to keep an eye on every eSprinter’s location and prevent it from travelling out of a defined area, thus removing the need to install costly ‘black boxes’ in each vehicle.
