You know the drill with Maserati by now. They’ll mesmerise you with exotic words that are impossible to say without putting on an Italian accent. “Grecale!” The trim levels are the same: “Trofeo!” or “Folgore!” Even the colours: “Fuoriserie Blu Intenso!” And the name of the engine: “Nettuno!” We’ll stop this now.
Okay then, one more. ”Georgio!” That's the name of the chassis. But exotic-sounding words alone will not justify a £100,000+ price tag, which is how much a Maserati Grecale Trofeo costs before options. Sure, you could get a 'basic' one for a mere £64,000. But even at that price, this is a family SUV built on the same chassis as a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's a big ask. So, Alex has put it through its paces in our video review. She talks you through its looks, handling, comfort and space, to see whether it holds up against some truly talented alternatives. Stuff like the Audi SQ5, BMW X3 40d, Porsche Macan, and even its sister car – the (significantly cheaper but no less Italian) Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
