October’s Electric Car Giveaway prizes

It’s officially spooky season and this month we’re giving away a Mazda MX-30 Makoto in Soul Red Crystal and Jet Black (naturally), worth £37,605!
As well as the electric car itself, the winner receives up to £1,300 towards their car insurance costs through Compare the Market and a brand-new home electric car charger with free UK installation from Hypervolt. Everything you need to spark your journey to electric!

Meet the Mazda MX-30 Makoto

When Mazda made its first electric car, the MX-30, it didn’t go with conventional thinking. There was no interest in having the biggest battery range, or the quickest 0-62mph time… or even regular back doors - they’re rear-hinged, like a BMW i3 or a Rolls-Royce.
In the MX-30, Mazda wanted to make a car that was sustainable, well-priced, great to drive, and just proper interesting. So yeah, the 124-mile official range looks paltry compared to most electric SUVs, but it’s plenty enough for day-to-day use and it makes the MX-30 lighter than average (because the battery is small), which means it’s efficient – you’ll get more miles per kWh, so it’s cheap to run. It also has a much sharper, sportier character than virtually everything else this size and shape. In fact, Mazda called it ‘MX’ to evoke its iconic sportscar, the MX-5, because it’s so confident in the fun you’ll have behind the wheel. For that reason, you’ll forgive it for the relative lack of rear space and small boot. Think of it more like a second car you can use for zero-emissions driving during your everyday life. Not many cars do that better. The model we’re giving away is a Makoto, which sits at the top of the range. (Mazda tends to give its cars Japanese names. Makoto means “good”, aptly enough.) The spec sheet is massive, including 18-inch polished alloys, electrically adjustable seats, a heated steering wheel, 360-degree parking cameras and a super powerful Bose stereo.
