To modern drivers MG is a Chinese-owned builder of affordable electric cars but for older generations (OK, boomers) the brand is better known as a builder of … affordable sports cars. Funny how life comes full circle but it seems it’s now going back to its roots with the Cyberster. And trolling Elon Musk’s boast he’d be the one selling us electric roadsters.
Yes, Tesla’s first car was exactly that. But we’ve been waiting on the promised replacement for years, with boasts that it would hit 0-60 in less than two seconds and, yes, be capable of hovering. Seemingly it's not yet off the ground, though. MG, meanwhile, has shrugged, taken the foundations of its massively popular MG4 and created an electrified twist on its classic roadsters of old, complete with crazy supercar doors, over 500 horsepower and a price feeling just about within reach. Join Rory for a journey of discover with the Cyberster into MG’s past, present and future as he finds out just what the brand stands for. And whether this electrified twist on its roadster traditions can win over a new generation of car nuts.
