Video | Is the new Audi RS5 faster than a BMW M3?

The BMW M3 has long been the go-to for anyone looking for a high-performance mid-size saloon. However, this hasn’t stopped rivals like the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio and the Mercedes AMG C63 trying their best to steal the limelight and now there’s a new challenger in town – the Audi RS5. Can the RS5 knock the BMW off its perch?

In this video Rory Reid enlists the help of professional racing driver Adam Christodoulou for the ultimate showdown between the M3 and RS5. But which car will come out on top?

They kick off the head-to-head with a drag race, obviously, before Rory talks us through the numbers and takes a closer look at the RS5. While the M3 has a more traditional pure petrol set-up, the RS5 is a plug-in hybrid with 639 horsepower, combining a 2.9 litre engine with a chunky battery and electric motor.

Rory takes both cars around the track for a warm-up before challenging Adam to a game of tag. The rules are simple; Rory sets off in the RS5 and gives Adam three laps to catch him in the M3. Who will win? You’ll have to watch to the end to find out.
