Leapmotor's new B10 electric SUV is aimed at young professionals, small families and city dwellers looking for a smart and sporty electric car that won’t break the bank (we’ve been assured).
• The new electric B10 SUV will sit alongside the upcoming B05 electric hatchback in the Leapmotor range • It will be offered with a choice of two battery packs, with the largest offering up to 269 miles of range • Thanks to its 218 horsepower electric motor, the B10 will be capable of 0-62mph in just eight seconds • It will be available in two trim levels, with most of the safety spec and tech available as standard • Orders are already open in the UK, with deliveries expected to begin through the winter

Design and models available

The B10 will be available in two trim levels: the well-equipped entry-level Life trim featuring the full driver safety package, and top-spec Design adding leather seats, ambient lighting and additional luxuries. It’s designed to be a compact SUV that “redefines expectations” from the segment. It aims to do this through sleek looks, a good level of tech and spec available as standard, and a decent profile (not too big, not too small). Measurements have been confirmed at 4.51m long, 1.88m wide and 1.65m high, meaning it comes in well under the UK’s parking height restrictions and will fit in most normal parking spaces.

Interior and tech

The B10’s cabin looks spacious and is touted as being highly customisable. The seating area can be configured as you require and is apparently one of the largest passenger spaces in the segment. It’s also been confirmed that there are well over 22 storage compartments in the cabin. In the centre of the dash is a 14.6-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The infotainment system is Leapmotor’s latest LEAP OS 4.0 Plus system, which provides the usual infotainment system functionality: customisable interface, 3D cockpit and multi-application display, and full remote control via the Leapmotor mobile app. Finally, the B10 is targeting a five-star E-NCAP rating with its high-strength steel safety cage, 17 advanced driver safety systems and 360-degree camera system available at entry level.

Batteries/range

It will be offered with a choice of two battery packs, with 56.2kWh providing a range of up to 224 miles and 67.1kWh for up to 269 miles; both ranges are confirmed WLTP figures. The 218 horsepower electric motor will be capable of 0-62mph in eight seconds flat.
