Leapmotor | Paris Motor Show 2026

All bases covered as Leapmotor launches a new city-friendly B03 electric hatch and big, luxury D19 SUV

Leapmotor stands apart from the throng of Chinese brands hitting the European market, not least for being part of the wider Stellantis group of Citroën, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Fiat and others, and selling its cars alongside them in the same showrooms. The Stellantis strategy clearly being it’s better having a Chinese brand in the tent, and all that. And it’s sharing a Paris show with all those brands and some fresh products of its own, detailed below. These build on the existing models like the ID.3-rivalling B05 hatchback and B10 crossover we’ve been living with on long-term test, Leapmotor’s announcement of Spanish production for the latter suggesting it’s properly putting down roots in Europe and the relationship with Stellantis is blooming…

Leapmotor B03

Based on the B03X crossover we drove recently, the new B03 is a small, city-friendly electric hatch seemingly pitched as directly at fellow Stellantis products like the Peugeot E-208, Vauxhall Corsa Electric and Citroën E-C3 as it is wider rivals like the all-conquering Renault 5 and new VW ID. Polo. Tough competition, all. How does the Leapmotor hope to stand out among them? Well, the ‘everything included’ spec looks generous, with heated seats and steering wheel, soft-touch eco fabrics, app-powered keyless entry, a massive 14.6-inch central screen and a total of 21 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS in the jargon. Not all of which might be as attractive as it sounds, given our experiences with the last three in our B10 long-term test car.

Moving swiftly on, the B03 also boasts some interesting practical features like tip-up rear seats (we’ll tactfully say ‘inspired’ by Honda’s signature Magic Seats) and a 90-litre ‘Leap Box’ storage compartment for muddy kit under the boot floor. Range of 242 miles is about on a par for the class, the 194 horsepower of the motor somewhat higher. But, again with experience of the B10, we’d caution be careful what you wish for on that.

In such a competitive class pricing will be key, and we’ll know more about that ahead of the B03’s debut early in the new year.

Leapmotor D19

Billed as a flagship model for the Leapmotor range there’s less to go on with the D19 but you won’t be bowled over in shock to learn it’s a big, hybrid SUV laden with luxurious features. Like many of its rivals, you’ll be able to choose between family-friendly seven-seat and ‘executive’ six-seat configurations, the latter with business class style separate seats in the middle row. We’ll hold judgement on the “large infotainment ecosystem” until we see what that entails while a promised “innovative suspension system” claims to read the road and react in real time to ensure maximum comfort. More when we know it.
