Relaunched as a brand-new model last year, the latest Indian Scout may look similar to its predecessor but uses a brand-new frame and more modern SpeedPlus 1250 engine with rider electronics and more. And now there’s this, the reborn Scout Sixty based around the same platform but with a sleeved down 999cc SpeedPlus engine and increased accessibility through its beginner-friendly manners and £10,995 starting price – a saving of at least two grand over its 1250 equivalent.
The Scout Sixty will be available in two main versions, comprising entry-level, blacked-out Bobber with its minimalist bodywork and mean looks and the unashamedly chintzier Classic with traditional flared mudguards and chrome trimmings. Both use 16-inch wheels front and back, have nice low seats and feature ‘mid’ peg positions and bars for a more usable, all-round riding position perfect for beginners. The Bobber also has shorter suspension travel at the rear, trading comfort for that all-important low-slung custom look.
Both bikes will be available in Standard and Limited trim, built around modern electronics with ABS and LED lighting included. Limited adds extras like cruise control, traction control, ride modes and additional badging while an upgraded 101mm app-enabled touch-screen is an option if you want to connect your phone for navigation and other features. Other extras include a ‘Syndicate Seat’ if you want to carry a pillion and soft, saddlebag style panniers for each version. Both will also be available in A2 licence trim, opening Scout ownership to new riders still on a restricted licence.

Roadmaster Elite and Springfield Special Edition

If the Scout Sixty is all about making Indian ownership look more affordable and accessible the strictly limited Roadmaster Elite full-dress tourer and Springfield Special Edition are very much the other way, celebrating American excess in their looks and pricing and exclusivity in their strictly limited supply.
So limited, in fact, Indian says just a one of the 50 Springfield Special Editions being built will be made available in the UK. Powered by the torque-rich Thunderstroke 116 engine your £25,895 gets you a fantastically lavish two-tone paint combo with tan leather seats and lashings of chrome for the ultimate in trad American touring.
If you miss out on that there will be a total of four Roadmaster Elites coming, though at £38,695 this full-dress tourer comes at quite the premium and nearly £10,000 more than the ‘regular’ Roadmaster Limited. For that you get tri-tone paintwork with hand-drawn gold pinstriping, numbered badging signifying which of the total production run of 300 examples you’ve landed, the 12-speaker PowerBand audio system, a power-adjustable screen, remotely lockable hard luggage and much more.
