What’s the point of buying an electric car now if we know that, in the future, there’s going to be better technology?
It’s a valid question, and one Rory Reid investigates in our new video. Hit play to find out whether there’ll ever be a right time to make the switch to electric.

Should we wait for new technology in electric cars?

A fair few people are holding off buying an electric car now, because they don’t want to be stuck with an outdated car and obsolete battery in the near future.
It’s a bit like waiting to buy a new phone. You could wait forever for the next, new-and-improved model to be released and, as soon as you buy, they’ll announce another one to be right around the corner. Yes, you can get a phone on contract and swap for the latest model – but you can also lease an electric car and get the newest model every couple of years. When buying any car, the real question is “is it right for me?” and asking does it have enough space? Is it in budget? Will the range get me where I need to go? If there’s an electric car out there that ticks all the boxes today, then now is a great time to make the switch. Electric cars are always improving. Battery life will continue to advance, and electric cars will likely become greener, smarter, more powerful, and deliver better value. But the market today? That’s a great one to dive into.
