The Microlino is a modern-day interpretation of 1950s bubble cars. It’s small, nippy, all-electric and technically not a car but a quadricycle which allows you to drive the Lite version with just a an AM licence. Micro, the brand behind the Microlino, believes it has created the perfect solution for short inner-city journeys by offering a more sustainable option than a full-size electric car. But, what’s the Microlino really like to live with? In this video Rory Reid finds out by testing it out on his commute.
There’s just one catch – Rory lives in Bedford but works in central London. Can this teeny-weeny mini fridge on wheels take on the M1 and how far can it really go on a full charge? The Microlino is available with three battery sizes and Rory’s version has the largest option which has an official range of around 140 miles. His model also has a top speed of 56mph which should just about be enough to manage a motorway, but the faster he drives, the quicker his range will deplete and the cold winter temperatures won’t help matters either. So, the scene is set but you’ll have to watch to the end of the video to find out how Rory and the Microlino get on. If you are intrigued by this cute little quadricycle, you can read our full review here! Would you commute to work in a Microlino?
