The Paris Motor Show is on Peugeot’s home turf and, as such, the perfect place to showcase the brand's latest technology and design. So, what has Peugeot got up its sleeve for us this year?
Here’s everything we know about the RCZ Vision and the E-T16 Concept…

Vision RCZ Concept
The original Peugeot RCZ was a real head-turner with it distinctive ‘double-bubble’ curved roofline and sleek coupe profile. While it may not have offered the premium experience of an Audi TT, its unique sense of style still looks fresh today. Now, Peugeot has reinvented the RCZ for the modern age. Enter the RCZ Vision, a futuristic concept car featuring a rectangular steering wheel, a solid-state battery and an immersive driver display.
The RCZ Vision showcases Peugeot’s new “Feline Future” design centred around “freedom, courage, elegance, strength and instinct”. Cutting through this corporate spiel, essentially this is about being bold and driver-focused with plenty of claw-like motifs for good measure. Unlike Fiat, Peugeot isn’t into cutesy retro, so the moulded roof and the small triangles on the wheels are nods to the first generation RCZ but overall, the RCZ Vision is intended to be a thoroughly modern design.
Inside, Peugeot says the RCZ Vision offers a “digital experience that rejects the race for ever more screens”, so the central display can be switched off completely, allowing the driver to focus on steering the car with the Hypersquare we first saw on the Polygon Concept. This introduces steer-by-wire technology, removing the physical connection between the steering and the wheels. Meanwhile the brake-by-wire system also does away with a physical link between pedal and brakes, aiming the make slowing down smoother and more precise. Above the Hypersquare there’s a configurable floating transparent digital display allowing the driver to focus on the road ahead.
Peugeot says the RCZ Vision aims to offer a cocoon-like environment for up to four people and it uses more sustainable materials including leather upholstery made from recycled off-cuts. Other touches include aluminium and frosted glass components and an elegant dashboard clock designed by French watchmaker, Serica.
With 500 horsepower and a range of around 370 miles, the RCZ Vision is built on a scalable platform making it easier to reuse and recycle components. Peugeot has also worked in collaboration with Factorial Energy to produce a solid-state battery pack. This is a big deal because these batteries are lighter helping to make the car more efficient, while also allowing you to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in under 10 minutes.
The old RCZ looked like an escaped concept car which had from a glossy motor show, and we already know the Hypersquare seen here will feature in the next-generation E-208, so let’s hope Peugeot goes the whole hog and brings a real-world version for the RCZ Vision to life.

E-T16 Concept
The RCZ Vision isn’t the only exciting car on the Peugeot stand this year. The E-T16 Concept is an all-electric homage to the 205 T16, a two-time winner of the World Rally Championship back in the 1980s. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of these victories, Peugeot has channelled the T16’s legendary spirit into a high-performance electric “Hyperhatch”.
The E-T16 Concept takes the foundations of the next-generation E-208 and totally ups the ante, making it the most powerful Peugeot ever built. Peugeot Sport has tuned the motors, suspension, and chassis to give the E-T16 Concept the substance to back up its style giving it a whopping 816 horsepower. From a standing start it can hit 62mph in just 2.5 seconds, while 186mph takes 16 seconds. There’s one motor powering the front wheels, and at rear there are two more motors distributing the power to each wheel individually for optimal grip. There’s a vertically mounted handbrake just like a proper rally car, along with bucket seats and four-point safety harnesses.
Again, the unique Hypersquare takes centre stage and it is paired with a configurable large central display and the latest Peugeot ‘i-Cockpit’. Just like the E-208 GTi, Peugeot has been liberal with red highlights including the headlining and roll cage. There’s even a storage compartment with room for two helmets.
Peugeot says the E-T16 Concept could in-theory still be a daily runabout with its 85kWh battery providing around 250 miles of range – but only if you drive sedately and let’s be realistic, no one will do that! However, Peugeot Sport engineers have gone to great lengths to make sure the battery doesn’t overheat when you push the car hard by using battery cooling technology and thermal management systems carried over from motorsport.
Looks-wise, there are clear echoes of the 205 T16 in the Winchester Matte Grey body colour, silver wheels and a backlit red pinstripe wrapping around the car. These highlights are combined with the same “Feline Future” design of the RCZ Vision and the upcoming E-208. Peugeot’s “three-claw” light signature is an unmistakable feature which now strikes horizontally across the front and the back. The E-T16 Concept gets aggressive styling with bulging wheel arches, massive air intakes and a pair of “cat-ear” rear spoilers.
Finally, for the E-T16’s party trick, the entire rear body opens to reveal the two electric motors beneath.
