Omoda – along with partner brands Jaecoo and Chery – is growing so fast the announcement of this new 4 seems to have caught even its UK operation by surprise! From what we can tell expect a B-segment sized player with a choice of hybrid or electric power to take on the likes of the new BYD Atto 2 and Chinese-developed equivalents selling under European brand names like the Volvo EX30 and Smart #1.
• While it was originally going to be called the Omoda 3 the Omoda 4’s logical naming see it slot in beneath, yes, the Omoda 5 • ‘Cyber Mecha’ design influence combines elements of sci-fi, gaming and pop culture references to appeal to a younger audience • Expect a choice of hybrid or full electric, though this is to be confirmed • No word on performance data yet – watch this space! • More information on cost and on-sale date to come next year • Based on the cars it’s up against we’d expect a price of around £30,000

Design and models available

What’s this Cyber Mecha design influence about then? Over to Omoda’s design director Richard Koo to explain all. “During the journey through the O-Universe, mysterious quantum fluctuations are activated,” he says in a press release, “transforming into the unique “O-Universe lighting”, the most recognisable visual signature of Omoda 4 and a symbol bridging virtual and real worlds.” Whatever you say, Richard! While seemingly aimed at a younger audience Omoda also wants to encourage fans of the brand to become “Co-Creation Ambassadors” to contribute feedback and ideas to the Omoda 4’s development team ahead of the car’s official launch. Seems we’re all beta testers now!

Interior and tech

With that gaming influence screens inevitably feature highly, along with spaceship inspired design influences and a Lamborghini-style ‘fire button’ to switch the Omoda 4 on. Practically speaking the Omoda 4 is described as a B-segment model, this being a key battleground for small cars in the post-hatchback age.

Batteries/range or engines

No information as yet, but Omoda says the 4 will be part of its “expanding line-up of ICE cars and New Energy Vehicles” so sounds to be hedging its bets. It does promise a seven-year warranty and an eight-year guarantee for the battery, whether that’s powering the car on its own or as part of a hybrid system.

Price and release

Given the cars it will compete with we’d speculate on a price somewhere around £30,000, while the car itself should be on sale some time later in 2026.

What other cars from Omoda are due this year?

There’s an Omoda 7 coming in the first part of 2026 to slot in between the 5 and 9 as well, the range seemingly growing by the week!

What other cars that are upcoming will this compete with?

From legacy brands to Chinese newcomers, the compact crossover segment is among the most fiercely fought, and whether new models or updates to existing ones the Omoda 4 will have plenty of competition.
