Cities are always a challenging environment for cars; given the pressures of busy roads, competition for parking spaces and, increasingly, charges for congestion and emissions. A car that can succeed here is truly impressive, so it’s credit to MG that its HS takes the top spot in our Best Car for City Drivers.
Affordability is an important consideration given the costs of urban living, and MG scores highly here with the option of petrol and hybrid versions of the HS to suit all tastes. The latter is especially attractive, given its 32-mile electric only range means you can conceivably do much of your driving around town without firing up the petrol engine at all, which obviously has significant benefits for local air quality, convenience and running costs. The raised SUV ride height gives drivers confidence in busy traffic, while the practicality is also appreciated.
