Volvo reveals sporty R-Design versions of new S90 and V90

Although Volvo is not renowned for its high-performance models, the sporty-looking R-Design versions have always sold well, extending the appeal of its mainstream cars

  • ‘Performance-inspired’ models now on sale
  • Unique look inside and out
  • Available to order now, with prices yet to be confirmed
Volvo has filled an important gap in its new S90 and V90 ranges by showing off the first images of the sporty R-Design versions.
Sitting on an advanced sports chassis that the company says will deliver an ‘energetic’ drive, the R-Design cars stand out from other models in their ranges by virtue of their sporty look. This includes spotlights integrated into the front spoiler, as well as a unique grille and piano black trim on both the front and rear. A new design of five-spoke, matt black diamond-cut alloy wheel completes the image.
Inside, meanwhile, R-Design cars have unique trim, pedals and mats, as well as sporty seats, a special steering wheel, and a bespoke high-level interior illumination package.
The S90 and V90 R-Design models – rivals for S line versions of the Audi A6 Avant and M Sport-trimmed models in the BMW 5 Series Touring range – are available to order now, but prices will not be announced until the autumn. Click here to see our First Drive review of the new V90 on film
