Rory hits the road, track, and gravel as he pushes the Lamborghini Urus Performante to the limit of its high-performance abilities. And if you thought the original Urus wasn’t bonkers enough, the Performante sets a new benchmark for high-performance, super-SUVs. From its lightweight components and improved aerodynamics to its off-roading capabilities, the driving thrills and performance over all terrain are taken to a whole new level.
So, what’s new?
Believe it or not, it’s a fraction faster than the standard Urus. The Performante has 666 horsepower over the standard version's 650 and can reach 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds – three tenths of a second faster. And if you’re wondering how this big and bulky SUV has managed to achieve this increase in speed, it’s all down to its revised characteristics that hone its sporting edge.
Put simply, through its iconic sporting design, tactical use of lightweight materials and revamped aerodynamics, the Performante’s performance on the track is translated straight to the road. This new “lightweight”, high downforce version has undergone a weight reduction of 47kg, thanks to more abundant use of carbon fibre across the vehicle. This includes for the bonnet, for the redesigned front bumper, the wheel arches, the rear diffuser and – as an option – for the roof. It is also more aerodynamically efficient with, 38 per cent more downforce and reduced drag thanks to a range of modifications, including prominent vents in the bonnet. Further alterations include swapping out the standard suspension in favour of steel springs and dampers. Although this comes at the expense of comfort, they are lighter and reduce the car’s centre of gravity. Increasing its responsiveness, everything becomes more immediate and precise – from the throttle, steering, and the way it swiftly changes direction.

How much is a Lamborghini Urus Performante?
The Performante version of Lamborghini’s Urus will set you back a hugely hefty £209,000, which is £21,000 more than the standard Urus. But as Rory says, if you’ve got Urus money, you’ve probably got Urus Performante money as well.
Lamborghini’s biggest selling car is pushing boundaries again, this time even more driver and track focused. With its lighter, lower, more agile, and intrinsically athletic improvements, can the Lamborghini Urus Performante be considered as a true driver’s car?
