Dutch sports car brand Donkervoort has a similar origin story to Britain’s Caterham with both manufacturers taking inspiration from the 1970s Lotus Seven. While in the UK the modern-day Caterham Seven still closely resembles its Lotus predecessor, over in the Netherlands European regulations caused Donkervoort to design its own line of bespoke models. These began as pared-back lightweight sports cars with modest power but over the years Donkervoort has evolved and its latest offering is an absolute beast.
Enter the Donkervoort F22. This arguably provides one of the most immersive driving experiences money can buy and in this video Rory Reid gets behind the wheel to find out what it is really like. Is simply too wild or can this high performance, ultra-lightweight, 500 horsepower supercar be tamed? Rory explains a little more about how the F22 came to be and highlights the most striking elements of its design before hitting the road. This is not a car for the faint hearted, but the detachable roof is at least a small nod to practicality… well, sort of. So, once Rory’s test drive comes to an end, does the Donkervoort F22 earn a place in his dream garage? You’ll have to watch the video to find out. If you enjoyed this video give it a like and let Rory know your thoughts on the Donkervoort F22 in the YouTube comments. You can also subscribe for more like it.
