The Festival of Speed is back bigger than ever this July, with anniversaries galore being celebrated at Goodwood

With the UK’s biggest and most popular automotive event just around the corner, there’s plentyto get excited about.. From classic and racing cars of all types to new car reveals and launches, there’s something for everyone across the action-packed weekend. And this year is a special one too, as Goodwood celebrate its 30th anniversary of the festival, held in the stunning grounds of the Duke of Richmond’s estate.

What is the Festival of Speed?

Over 200,000 guests including car enthusiasts, racing drivers, F1 faces, motorsport legends and more, come together for the greatest commemoration of motoring and car culture. Set on the stunning grounds of the historic Goodwood House, there’s no other venue more memorable in motorsport heritage. No matter who you are or what sort of cars you’re into, it’s the ultimate summer garden party you won’t want to miss.

Is there a theme?

Every year, Goodwood promotes a theme to set the tone for the festival’s spirit. And this year marks 75 years of Goodwood’s motorsport history, with the 2023 theme being ‘Goodwood 75’.
As a tribute to the huge milestone, Porsche gets the best seat in the house. The Goodwood 75 theme goes hand in hand with the 75th anniversary of Porsche building its first ever sports car, so the brand’s place on the pedestal outside Goodwood house is perfectly timed.

For those who want to indulge in the thrill of speed, getting close tothe hillclimb track is where you want to be. The challenging 1.16-mile sprint is arguably the most renowned feature of the festival. Guests can watch in awe as manufacturers, drivers and race teams’ show off their driving skills In racing and supercars from the past, present and even future.

Will there be electric cars there too?

Yes – Electric is the future of mobility after all, and Goodwood welcomes back the Electric Avenue, presented by BP Pulse, to showcase this. Despite Goodwood’s enduring celebration ofcombustion cars, it’s clearly growing to love the flood of new and exciting EVs transforming the motoring world. First introduced in 2021, the Electric Avenue stands as the EV hub of Goodwood, exhibiting a vast array of EVs. Automotive brands display their latest electric vehicles, allowing guests to oversee a range of makes and models, have their EV questions answered by professionals and learn more about the journey to electric.
