- New look for family SUV, particularly at the front end
- Revised suspension and new seats for increased comfort
- Specification to be confirmed, but will be on sale in early 2018
These are the first photos of the revised version of the Citroen C4 Cactus. It brings a new look for the family SUV, as well as a new suspension system and more comfortable seats.
The new look is most obvious at the front end, with new LED daytime linked to the chevrons in the centre of the nose by chrome strips across the full width of the car. This is echoed in the new chrome strip around the grille, while owners can personalise their car by adding a coloured insert around the foglamps. In addition, the bumper has been redesigned; the headlamps, too, are new, with black inserts underneath; and, the car’s ‘Airbumps’ - which protect the door against minor bumps - have been remodelled and now sit lower down, while there are new LED lights at the rear, and the tailgate is now all body-coloured.

Buyers also have plenty of scope to personalise their car, with the choice of nine body colours helping to give a total of 31 exterior combinations, thanks to the four colour packs that add an extra dash of colour to the Airbumps, doors and front bumpers.
Inside, the new C4 Cactus features a very similar layout to the previous car, and the low-set dashboard retains a fully digital instrument panel, with two screens. There’s also a new storage space on the centre console that incorporates a smartphone docking area with 12V and USB sockets And, as with the outside, so with the inside, the Cactus gives buyers lots of choice. There are five ‘ambiences’ to choose from, all of which give different combinations of colour, materials and trim. The front seats have been fitted with a new type of foam, which is claimed to be more comfortable, while three of the five ‘ambiences’ come with ‘Advanced Comfort seats’. These have thicker foam, height- and lumbar adjustment, as well as broad backs and bases. Last, but not least, the new Cactus has thicker glass in the windows, as well as more sound-deadening material to try and make the car more refined.

In a further effort to make the Cactus supremely comfortable, it’s the first car in Europe to have a new suspension system, called ‘Progressive Hydraulic Cushions’. This has been designed to make the suspension work more smoothly, stopping the car bouncing over badly surfaced roads.
The new car also comes with the latest in driver-assistance systems – including Active Safety Brake (which automatically applies the brakes in an emergency), Driver Attention Alert and Park Assist, which will automatically find a parking space and then steer the car into it – as well as Citroen’s latest technology. Among the systems on offer will be Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink, allowing owners to operate their smartphone through the car’s touch-screen, while the SOS & Assistance Pack will automatically call for help in an emergency. Precise specifications for the UK are yet to be confirmed, but the Cactus will come with a range of seven engines – petrol and diesel – as well as the choice of manual or automatic gearboxes. Likewise, we don’t know how much the revised car will cost, but Citroen has confirmed that it will go on sale in early 2018.
